Treatment Options - Physical Therapy

Pain relief delivered by manual physical therapy.

Louisiana Physical TherapyThe many benefits of physical therapy.

Physical therapy is evaluation and treatment to help you prevent injury or recover from disability caused by an injury, a disease or other health condition. It can also prevent a disability from getting worse. Our physical therapist provides treatment by physical or mechanical means, such as through manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, heat or mild electrical stimulation, and will provide education, instruction and support for recovery.

The goals of physical therapy are to relieve your pain, improve your mobility (such as walking, going up stairs or getting in and out of bed) and restore your physical function and overall fitness. Depending on your injury, disease or condition, you may need to work on flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination and/or balance. To do this, your treatment may focus on:

  • Your muscles, tendons, ligaments & bones (musculoskeletal system)
  • Your spinal cord & nerves (nervous system)
  • Your heart & circulation (cardiovascular system)
  • A combination of these or additional therapies

If a physical problem is limiting what you can do in your daily life and activities, physical therapy can help. This is true for people of all ages and physical abilities. If you’ve had an injury, physical therapy can help you increase your range of motion and strengthen your muscles. This will help you in your activities and prevent future problems.

Our physical therapist can also evaluate how you perform a physical activity and make suggestions for doing it in a way that is less likely to result in an injury. He treats many patients with:

  • Low back pain & neck pain
  • Numbness, tingling & weakness
  • Functional limitations
  • Herniated disc & sciatica (leg pain)
  • Arthritis, osteoarthritis & degenerative joints
  • Musculoskeletal injuries & muscle weakness
  • Post-herpetic neuralgia (begins as shingles)
  • Diabetic & peripheral neuropathies
  • Postsurgical & post-trauma pain
  • The need to avoid surgery
  • he need or desire to discontinue medication

PT, massage therapy and pain management.

Patients gain greater benefits from the synergic effect of three disciplines working together. Our evidence-based treatment plans are unique to each patient - a combination best suited to the patient’s unique physical and emotional needs. The many benefits of massage therapy include:

• Diminished pain & improved sleep • Improved circulation to injured areas • Relaxation techniques to ease muscle tension, stress & anxiety • Improved sense of well-being

By combining the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of pain management with the hands-on manual therapy and massage therapy capabilities of our therapist, we can actually help patients more effectively. We can reduce their pain and restore their lives.
